Soils Information When mulch and soil conditioners are applied to the soil, fungi and soil bacteria begin breaking down to organic matter into individual components releasing nutrients in the process. Moisture and air temperature regulate this release as well as controlling the plant growth so the two go hand in hand. Mulches and soil conditioners are probably best described as 'slow release fertilisers’. Azalea & Camelia Mix A blend of Wood Fines/Pine Bark, Sawdust, Selected Sands, Compost, Peat and Active Ingredients. FOR ALL ACID LOVING PLANTS Azaleas, Camelias etc., as most soil in the metro area is ALKALINE an acid soil is essential to ensure vigorous growth and maximum flower development. This soil is also recommended for growing these plants in pots and containers.

Suitable for planting lawns, garden beds, rockeries, fruit trees etc. Used EXTENSIVELY by the Landscape Trade for its versatility ie; one truck load of soil to do the job. Not recommended for NATIVE PLANTS due to its high nitrogen content.

As some natives react strongly to some types of active ingredients, this is a well textured soil with a low organic level, ensuring adequate moisture and nutrient retention in the root zone.

Moisture and air temperature regulate this release as well as controlling the plant growth so the two go hand in hand. Mulches and soil conditioners are probably best described as 'slow release fertilizers. The advantages of mulching garden beds is that a layer 50mm thick will protect them from wind erosion and evaporation in summer. In winter mulches act as a temperature buffer maintaining soil warmth and promotes healthy growth in the colder months. All of the below mulches are as effective as each other, the only difference being in texture and appearance. Potting Mix A blend of Pine Bark, Sawdust, Coarse Sand and Humus. Our Potting Mix is best described as a Free Draining General Purpose Potting Mix. No fertilizers or trace elements are added thus making it suitable for all plant types, from native to tropical plants.

A heavy loam based soil with high organic levels. Roses need balanced nutrition throughout growth to ensure LARGE RICHLY COLOURED BLOOMS. This organic based soil contains the ideal blend to sustain healthy growth, there is no need to fill the entire garden bed with this soil. As roses have a relatively shallow root system, a hole 500mm x 500mm deep, filled with Rose Mix will suffice.
